I believe that faith and prayer are two of the most important components that a woman can have in her life. It’s not every day that you meet inspirational women who center their brands around the power of faith and prayer. This beautiful Mompreneur and dedicated mother of 3 of some of the most adorable children I have ever seen, is one of the most inspirational women that I have ever connected with. Although, we have never officially met in person, the one-of-a-kind energy, beautiful spirit, and relentless passion that she puts into her work is nothing short of admirable and I truly appreciate the impact that her brand makes for Moms like myself.
I recently had the pleasure to chat with T’era Burton of Concealer and a Prayer Life to catch up on her life as a busy Mompreneur and how she is using prayer and her faithhood to help inspire women and moms all over the world. Check out how she finds balance between Mommyhood and Entrepreneuship:
- What is a day in the life like as for you?
We are usually up at 5 and out the door by 6:30 on a good day lol somedays don’t go as planned, getting the kids dropped off to daycare. Once they’re dropped off I’m usually on the train doing my make up (lol yes) on the way to work. I work as a full time personal banker. On my lunch breaks I’m usually working on things for Concealer and a Prayer Life, answering emails, writing blog posts, scheduling social media content, I work til’ about 5 then it’s clocking into my 2nd full time job once I’m home. Lol that full time job is chasing around the littles, getting dinner ready, asking about their day, after dinner it’s bath and bed time, well for the kids lol. I try to have some time with my hubby, and get a little me time in as well.
- What inspired you to start Concealer and a Prayer Life?
Funny as it sounds a picture of Barbie lol but Mother of 2 kids Barbie, Barbie looked a mess. I just knew this could not be the image of motherhood, the thought that moms just let themselves go after children. That picture inspired the name, that name inspired the desire to help moms define motherhood on their own terms!
- What are some obstacles you’ve experienced starting your business and being a mom?
A lot of my obstacles were due to time management, with working full time on top of having Little’s most days, it just seemed impossible, I felt the guilt of feeling like I wasn’t doing enough to feeling as if I was maybe doing too much, would my kids feel neglected while I focus on my post for a little while? Can I really work full time while managing my home? And now Concealer and a Prayer Life, my challenges were more mental than anything.
- Name an accomplishment you’ve received since opening your business?
Publishing my first journal, being the first in my family to have published work and to even be quoted in a major magazine has been such great highlights!
- How have you been able to manage your time between your small business and being a full-time mommy?
I’ve learned that some nights I’ll have to stay up late to work on certain things, or work while I’m at work even if that means spending my lunch break brainstorming, my planner has been my best friend lol.
- What are three key takeaways you feel that moms who are looking to start a business should walk away with?

- Ask for help!
- Believe in yourself!
